Tip Offs
Set in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Tip Offs is the journey of Jay Siler from fast-track bank executive to girl’s high school basketball coach.
Back in the days when credit flowed like rolling water, Jay Siler was a banker, but not a banker who lent you money. He built the fastest growing branch network in the country from Pittsburgh to Washington D.C. Jay’s employer, Baltimore-based Harborside Bancorporation, aka America’s Bank, wanted Jay to get a branch built in Gettysburg, aka America’s Town. But all he got from the local government was complaints.
Following a bad meeting, a basketball slaps Jay in the buttocks as he loads his car, soiling his $2,000 suit. But he meets Bonita Blount, the best girl’s basketball player in Central Pennsylvania in decades and Stefani Jacobs, a promising prospect. Jay becomes their mentor, then later their coach at Gettysburg High School, while he faces the elimination of his full-time job during a weakening economy. He leads his team, the Generals, through two seasons of games, tragic injuries and parental politics.
